Monkbars Bonnie Launches Facebook Site To Promote Homes For Older Dogs
Facebook pet! Bonnie the Best Western Monkbar Hotel’s with her owner, hotel director June Nelsey.
A York hotels resident canine is helping to find homes for older dogs as she launches her own Facebook site.
The Best Western Monkbar Hotels Bonnie the Labrador has been added to the internet site by owner June Nelsey, as a way of promoting the work of Labrador Welfare, where she adopted Bonnie from five years ago.
Bonnie, now 13, accompanies June to work every day and has become a familiar face around the hotel and the city, with guests and staff alike taking her on daily walks.
June, the Monkbar Hotels director, said: Older dogs are often overlooked when people are looking for a new pet. I adopted Bonnie when she was nine and she is a fantastic companion.
She comes to the hotel with me everyday and has become part of the fixtures and fittings. Guests love her and so do the staff. We have given Bonnie her own Facebook page as a way of supporting Labrador Welfares efforts in re-homing older dogs.
Visitors to the Bonnie Monkbar page can find out about Bonnies life at the hotel, what she gets up to, her likes and dislikes and of course the important job done by Labrador Welfare.
June added: Labrador Welfare is a great organization and for anyone wanting a Labrador Id recommend going to them first. It has re-homed over 200 Labradors, ensuring that dogs like Bonnie are put into new and loving homes.
June Roberts from Labrador Welfare said: June is a great supporter of ours and we are delighted to see her and Bonnie using Facebook to support us. And yes, older dogs do make excellent pets and shouldnt be overlooked just because of their age.
The welfare also covers all vet bills for fostered Labradors over the age of 10.
