York’s Monkbar Hotel Guests Sing For Supper And Charity!

Members of a Scottish choir will be singing for their supper at York’s Best Western Monkbar Hotel as they aim to raise funds for a city-based charity.
During the first weekend of October, The East Fife Male Voice Choir is staging a Tour to York, and on the Friday night (October 2) they are giving their services for free in aid of York Carers Forum.
York Carers is a newly-formed organisation, which aims to raise awareness of issues facing the city’s unpaid carers. Earlier this year, it appointed Monkbar director June Nelsey as one of its three patrons.
June said: “When the East Fife Male Voice Choir contacted us to make their booking, I was delighted to hear that they would be happy to sing for free during their stay.
“I couldn’t let such a wonderful opportunity go to waste, hence us staging this choral evening in aid of York Carers. It’s incredibly generous of the choir to do this and I’m hopeful they will be playing to a packed house.”
During their tour, the choir will be performing Thornton-le-Dale as well staging a joint concert with Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir in Penistone, near Sheffield.
Starting at 7.30pm on Friday, October 2, tickets for the one-off charity performance cost just £7.50 each and include a glass of wine. They are available in advance by calling the Best Western Monkbar Hotel on 01904 638 086, on the door, or from York Carers Forum on 01904 422437 or emailing them on yorkcarersforum@yahoo.co.uk.
All proceeds from the evening will go to York Carers Forum.
