York Hotel's Charity Concert Raises Hundreds For Carers
Thank you for caring and sharing:

Together with the help of a band of Scottish singers, a York hotel has been able to raise hundreds of pounds for a city-based charity.
The East Fife Male Voice Choir performed a concert to a full house at The Best Western Monkbar Hotel to help raise money for the York Carers Forum, a newly-formed organisation, which aims to raise awareness of issues facing the city’s unpaid carers.
The idea for the event, which raised £650, came direct from the choir, who offered their singing services to a local charity as they made a booking reservation to stay at the hotel during a planned tour of the city.
Hotel director June Nelsey, who earlier this year was appointed one of the charity’s three patrons, said: “The very generous offer made by the East Fife Male Voice Choir is a perfect example of how a thoughtful gesture can go a long way to helping so many people.
“Enjoyed by over 100 guests, the choral evening was a huge success, and it was all down to the choir and the wonderful performance they shared with us. I would like to thank them dearly and hope they had as much fun as we did!”
York Carers Forum co-founder Katie Smith, who presented the choir with a plaque, said: “It was a wonderful gesture by the choir and we are thrilled with the outcome.
“The money raised will help us in our bid to offer information, support and advice to all unpaid carers aged over 18 living or caring in the city.”
