Monkbar Hotel Gets Its Running Shoes On For Martin House
Staff at York’s Best Western Monkbar Hotel are swapping work wear for running gear as they train for this year’s Jane Tomlinson 10k.
The employees are taking part in the Run for All in aid of its chosen charity, Martin House Hospice, which is being held on Sunday, August 1.
The fund-raiser, now in its second year, will see 4,000-plus participants set off from the racecourse and follow a route through the city centre, before finishing back at the Knavesmire.
Hotel Director June Nelsey said: “We have been busy training for a number of weeks now and it is starting to pay off. However, that said, I’ve decided I will be walking the 10k route.
“This run is another opportunity to raise funds for Martin House Hospice, and is in addition to our on-going ‘Marty’ the Bear adoption scheme, which has so far raised in excess of £15,000 for the charity.
“The hotel has a track record for supporting local good causes, and a good many of the team here are only too pleased to fund-raise for charities close to their heart.”
