Monkbar Hotel Supports Jane Tomlinson's Run For All In More Ways than One!
A York city centre hotel is showing its support of the forthcoming Jane Tomlinson 10K Run For All in more ways than one!
The Best Western Monkbar Hotel has been chosen as the event’s “Venue Partner”, and members of staff will also be swapping their uniforms for running vests to participate in the 10K race on Sunday, July 31.
This is the second year that York has staged a run, which is held in the memory of Jane Tomlinson, who died in 2007 following a seven year battle with cancer. During that time, she raised more than £1.7 million by undertaking numerous marathons and cycle challenges.
Monkbar Hotel director June Nelsey said: “Jane Tomlinson was a total inspiration. We are proud to have been chosen as the partner venue, where the organisers, and personalities supporting the York run, will stay ahead of the day.
“The week before the runners take to the streets, we are also hosting a ‘pasta night’ for competitors and sponsors with Steve Cram as the guest speaker.
“To show our support for the run, a number of the Monkbar Hotel staff will be taking part to raise money for the good causes benefiting from the event, which include our chosen charity, Martin House Children’s Hospice.”
Monkbar Hotel conference porter Neil Hudson said: “I’m really looking forward to the York 10K. Over the last few years I have taken part in a number of triathlons, so just running a course instead of cycling and swimming will make a nice change.”
After setting off from York racecourse, the runners will take in some of cities famous tourist attractions including York Minster, the Jorvik Centre and Betty’s Tea Rooms.
